Fats Domino on rare occasions teamed up with other Rock Hall of Famers. Two are notable. Performing on a 1971 local program on WDCA in Washington DC, Fats and the folk-rock band The Byrds appeared together on Turn-On, Barry Richards Rock and Soul. PBS's website posted the video which wasn't used in the American Masters episode Fats Domino and The Birth of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Chris Hillman was a true country rock pioneer from his days playing bluegrass mandolin in Southern California to his years with the original Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas, the Souther/Hillman/Furay Band, McGuinn, Hillman and Clark and the Desert Rose Band. "Bidin' My Time" is both a summary and artistic look ahead. The late Tom Petty produced it.
This week's "Believe Your Ears" PG Music Podcast reviews a 2-CD set by Pete Seeger & Roger McGuinn, recorded live at Manhattan's Bottom Line music venue, a combination of music by both and discussions about their respective careers, and the backstories of the tunes they sang.
