Malkin to miss Sunday game

No team in the National Hockey League has a reason to be more concerned about concussions than the Penguins. The team did not divulge the nature of the injury suffered by Evgeni Malkin Friday night against Florida but a concussion is a possibility.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma did not have definitive news concerning center Evgeni Malkin's injury today after an optional practice at Southpointe, although he confirmed that Malkin will miss Sunday night's home game against Tampa Bay.

Bylsma noted that Malkin slammed hard into the boards during Friday's win against Florida and said he is not hospitalized. Malkin left the game after that fall in the third period and did not return.

Beyond that, Bylsma did not say whether Malkin has undergone the neurocognitive concussion test that would be compared with his baseline testing.
