OWN continues to explore 'Black Love'

Film and TV producer Tommy Oliver (“The Perfect Guy”) got his start making student movies at Carnegie Mellon University when he was an economics and digital media major (with a business minor) prior to his 2006 graduation. He says those early efforts put him on the path to his current production, OWN’s docu-series “Black Love,” which returns Saturday at 10 p.m. for its second season highlighting stories from the African-American community.

“I would not be doing what I’m doing if not for them,” said Mr. Oliver of the support he got from CMU, including a dean of students who helped him secure funding for his first student film. “I adore the place. Carnegie Mellon was one of the best experiences of my life.”

Excellent 'Expanse' needs more attention

I spent my lunch hour Thursday catching up on the latest episode of Syfy's excellent space opera "The Expanse" (9 p.m. Wednesday) and it saddens me that this series doesn't get more attention -- from viewers and from its own network. The show deserves it.
