USA's 'Dirty John' returns with a new tawdry tale

Following on the first season of this anthology that debuted in late 2018, this eight-episode second season, “Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story” (9 p.m. Tuesday, USA) tracks a new story of love, betrayal and death.

Amanda Peet (“Brockmire”) and Christian Slater (“Mr. Robot”) star as Betty and Dan Broderick in a Southern California-set tale that begins in the 1960s and ends following a messy divorce and double murder in the 1980s.

The story was a media sensation in the ‘80s and early ‘90s with Betty appearing on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” The story was previously filmed as a two-part CBS TV movie that aired in 1992 starring Meredith Baxter (“Family Ties”) as Betty and Stephen Collins (“7th Heaven”) as Dan.
