Adorable millennial Stella (Ms. Hale) fought cancer for eight years and then unexpectedly beats it after marrying a guy (Elliot Knight) on a whim because she expected it to be an eight month commitment, tops. Now that she has a – wait for it – life sentence, her family falls apart because they suddenly don’t have to keep it together to spare poor, dying Stella.

Her parents (Dylan Walsh, Gillian Vigman) are fighting, her irresponsible brother (Jayson Blair, “The New Normal”) gets a married woman pregnant and her sister (Brooke Lyons) is unsatisfied by her life choices.

It’s warm and funny-adjacent but it has too much voiceover narration and doesn’t offer the emotional truths of reigning prime-time family drama champ “This is Us.”
