This weekend marks the second season premiere of CBS All Access’ “The Good Fight” (3 a.m. Sunday), which takes a turn for the dark as lawyers begin dying all over Chicago, some murdered by their clients, much to the dismay of Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) who finds an unsettling, uncharacteristic coping mechanism.

Series creators Michelle and Robert King spend the first two episodes extricating Maya Rindell (Leslie Rose, “Game of Thrones”) from federal charges stemming from her father’s Ponzi scheme, including some disappointing turns in episode two that rely on things-that-would-not-happen-in-a-real-courtroom TV tropes. “The Good Fight” is better than that.

Episode three finds the series in sharper form as the law firm comes under threat, relationships clarify (including between Diane and new partner Liz Reddick-Lawrence, played by Audra McDonald) and a legal case explores reality TV.
