Viewers who don't watch "Pretty Little Liars" may be a bit confused about some character references but they're easy enough to ignore as this teen soap seeks to create its own story. It's all cheesy and silly with minimally adequate performances but, eh, what do you expect from a show in this genre.
The story begins as Caleb (Tyler Blackburn, who looks like a young Jared Padelecki circa "Gilmore Girls") meets Miranda (Nicole Gale Anderson) on a bus ride to fictional Ravenswood, Pa. She's looking for long-lost family members; he's taking care of Miranda at the behest of his girlfriend, Hanna, who he's left behind on "Pretty Little Liars."
I actually wrote a lot more to this review last week that our blog software appears to have lost (well done!) and I don't have time to reconstruct it now. Suffice it to say, things go bump in the night and by the end of the show's first hour, all the primary characters appear to be dead, an entirely satisfying ending.
