BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Before she played a snotty adversary on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” actress Charisma Carpenter had her own round of “Surviving Evil” (10 tonight, Investigation Discovery) and it was very much of this earth, not an escapee from the Hellmouth.

Carpenter was attacked on the beach and her story of survival is the first one up in the ID series that she hosts.

Subsequent episodes will chronicle others' successful efforts to survive evil encounters.

“It's about how did they survive. I think that's the suspense in it,” Carpenter said of the stories featured on “Surviving Evil.” “Like, how did they get through that. And you learn the story, being in a barrel, packed in ice, stuffed in a storage locker, how? How did she get through that? How was she found? I think the unraveling of the story makes it compelling and suspenseful.”
