PCP Breaking Bad and Philosophy frontcoverYou don't often think about TV and philosophy working in conjunction with one another but with some TV programming growing more sophisticated -- at the same time that other programming grows more unsophisticated (thanks, reality TV!) -- there's a whole line of pop culture/philosophy books, which now includes "Breaking Bad and Philosophy: Better Living Though Chemistry" ($19.95, Open Court).

Read more after the jump. ...

The book is broken into essay-length chapters by assorted authors on a range of topics, including the eyebrow raising, "What So Bad About Meth?"

Another essay posits the notion of Walt as MacBeth.

"Breaking Bad" returns for its final set of eight episodes on Aug. 11.

Here's a fan-made video called "The Transformation of Walter White." It's a bit too laudatory with the swelling music for my taste given what a villain Walt has become.
