1964HouseUNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. -- Turns out Mockingbird Lane ("The Munsters") is in the same neighborhood as Wisteria Lane ("Desperate Housewives") -- literally.

The house from the original 1960s "Munsters" series -- set at 1313 Mockingbird Lane -- was actually reused for "Desperate Housewives" and another house just down the block from the Wisteria Lane set is being remade into the new Munster family home for NBC's pilot reboot, "Mockingbird Lane."

During a visit last week to Universal Studios Hollywood, signs all over the backlot pointed to a table read for "Mockingbird Lane," the NBC pilot from writer Bryan Fuller, the brain behind ABC's "Pushing Daisies."

This new Munsters -- not to be confused with a previous reboot, the 1987-1991 series "The Munsters Today" -- will star Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster, Portia De Rossi as Lily Munster and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Munster.

Here are photos of what the new Munsters house looks like while still under construction as seen on the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot tour:
