The Walmart in Detroit Lakes, Minn., was my sleeping spot.
Walmarts didn't exist in 1960, so Steinbeck had to stay in motels,
resorts and grand hotels.  He left Frazee, Minn., on Oct. 12, 1960,
and passed through Fargo to Alice, N.D. I followed.
