“‘Disney Infinity’ was, from the start, built to be an interactive experience where players could bring together their favorite Disney characters and stories to create new Disney memories,” said Jimmy Pitaro, President of Disney Interactive. “With the introduction of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, we’re ushering in a new chapter of adventures, featuring a cast of the world’s most popular Super Heroes.”
According to John Blackburn, VP and General Manager of Avalanche Software, “Disney Infinity 2.0” will feature enhancements and improvements to the original. This will include taking advantage of the additional horsepower from the PS4 and Xbox One.
All new Marvel storylines will play a major role in the updated title. Famed Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis is on board for creating original story content for "Disney Infinity 2.0."
The game will be backwards compatible with all existing “Disney Infinity” figurines, Power Discs and Toy Boxes. Game saves from the Xbox 360 and PS3 will transfer to the Xbox One and PS4 respectively. Wii owners will be out of luck, as “Infinity 2.0” is not releasing for Nintendo’s previous console.
A starter pack is expected to retail for $75, the same price of the original “Disney Infinity” starter pack. No word on the price of the individual figurines and accessories.
