'Street Fighter x Tekken' iOS and Vita hands-on

I had a chance to get hands-on with two new versions of "Street Fighter x Tekken" on the Vita and iOS devices. I'll start with the Vita.

Like most games available for both the PS3 and the Vita, there's is barely a difference in terms of quality. "SFxT" feels like it always has, only now it's accessible on the go.

Having cross-platform play with the PS3 is a huge feature for fight fans. With the inclusion of cross-platform play, it doesn't matter that nobody has a Vita. You can still find fights online against PS3 users.

I expected the iOS version to be as strong as the Vita, but I was disappointed. When played on The New iPad, textures looked poor and gameplay lacked the smooth fighting action that makes "Street Fighter" the standard in the fighting game genre.

Competitive fighting games require pinpoint precision, which means physical buttons are a must-have. The touch-screen virtual buttons are well placed, but make the game to imprecise to be taken seriously in a competitive form.

Both versions will be released in the Fall of 2012.
