'Crysis 3' E3 preview

Meet the best looking game at E3. Who knows what kind of PC rig "Cyrsis 3" was running on in the demo (the developers wouldn't say), but this game was absolutely stunning.

In the hands-off demo, the main character Prophet was shown stealthily executing his enemies in a sprawling outdoor level. This stage mixes urban and jungle environements to create a hybrid of both. Prophet was seen dipping in and out of ruined buildings, running and swimming through creeks and leaping around on rocks.

The new bow, which was shown on much of the game's promotional material, looks like an especially versatile silent killing machine. Weapons in "Crysis 3," including the bow, will feature multiple ammo types. Four different types of arrows were shown, including the air burst arrows that incapacitate multiple enemies in a radius from the impact.

You'll be able to use alien weaponry in "Crysis 3," a first for the "Crysis" series. It provides powerful ammunition, but only for a short period of time.

Environments can be used to inflict damage. For example, enemies that were standing in a puddle of water and were promptly zapped by firing a single electrical arrow in the water a la "Bioshock."

Another seeming nod to "Bioshock" comes from the new hacking ability. Prophet can hack machinery to fight on his side like mechs and turrets.

No word yet on what the minimum requirements will be to run "Crysis 3" on PC. It will also be available on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
