Ray Price Ailing, Death Rumors Untrue

Apparently in the last 24 hours, a rumor has been spreading that ailing country great Ray Price, who's battled pancreatic cancer and other related ailments, has died.  He's been hospitalized well over a month after a with sepsis, an infection often fatal, that left his kidneys with considerable damage. But the 87 year old legend remains among the living.

Several hours ago, wife Janie Price complained about the rumor on the singer's Facebook page, adding an update to his condition, still quite serious.

"Ray has improved so much we have left ICU and are now in an Acute Care Center. The Sepsis infection has damaged Rays kidneys severly. He has to remain in a Physician Supervised Dialysis Center until the Doctors can determine to what level his kidneys will regain function."

She added that despite his formidable challenges, he's well enough to be less than pleased with the death rumor. I've modified it from all caps.

"Ray said 'your prayers have gotten me through this terrible crisis. Tell who ever is spreading this story to not rush me. The end will come on it's own soon enough!"

That remark is characteristic, coming from the man who accepted his overdue 1996 Country Music Hall of Fame induction with the blunt, totally appropriate, comment, "Thank you. It's about time."

Death rumors for celebrities aren't uncommon. Of course the Internet allows this crap to go viral in no time.  It's not likely Price will be onstage again, but the feisty personality remains.
